The Morgan Hill and Gilroy Youth Climate Action is a small but mighty team of teens who are incredibly passionate about making our community as sustainable and climate conscious as possible by collaborating with local government officials to implement environmentally friendly policies.

Current Projects

  • Implementing Environmental Clubs (MHYCAT) across Morgan Hill School Districts (MHUSD)

  • Pushing for progress towards Climate Action Plan (CAP) as a top funded priority with the Morgan Hill city government and community

  • Working towards SVCE Grant Funds for teacher professional training on Climate Change Education

  • Warriors For Climate high school student led leadership program for climate change

General goals

  • Meeting with various council members/city staff to establish a strong relationship with them

  • Advocating for MHUSD schools to introduce climate literacy advisory lesson plans

  • Hoping to plan the first MHYCAT Youth Summit by partnering with Silicon Valley Clean Energy

  • Host monthly park clean-ups in our community parks

  • Expanding our social media outreach and recruiting new team members

2024 achievements

  • Launched tabling for Earth Day events @ Live Oak & Sobrato High Schools 

  • Green Career Environmental advocate speakers @ Earth Day events

  • Fostered strong relationships with Morgan Hill Mayor and city council as in terms for Climate Change Awareness!

  • Received a 10k Grant for use of Implementing Climate Curriculum across K-8

past Achievements

  • Advocated and contributed to a city wide climate action plan in Morgan Hill

  • Designed a MHUSD district-wide plan to increase reliance on renewable energy, improve sustainability on school campuses, as well as educate and engage the community about the impact of environmental threats on health and well being of future generations
